today, I sent a friend off at the airport for the very first time. it was a quiet departure with many waves of goodbye, hugs but no tears. a close friend of 5 years, one whom I've spent most of my time in lectures and classes with (: now that she's leaving for the uk to further her studies, I feel a certain sense of unwillingness of letting her leave.. will miss her silly antics and the laughter she'd bring to all of us (: here's wishing you all the best in your future endeavors! loads of love ^^ I'm glad to have sent you off! (:

other than us friends who sent her off was someone more than just a friend- someone whom she had been close together with for more than 2 years (or is it 3 already?), someone who shares th same interests as her and someone who's been by her side through thick and thin (: there certainly hv been moments of down between them but the very fact that they're still together till this day shows that their relationship is still strong as rock (:
but what happens when a relationship is so strong and they need to be separated on an obligatory basis? I wasn't sad when I said my goodbyes to her, yet there was a sudden cringe in my heart when I saw the look him his eyes when she left. it was touching how she came walking back, albeit awkwardly, and we were all cheering him on to go give her a hug. well, the hug was surely a heartwarming scene to witness.
the tear-jerking bit happens when she gradually disappears into the crowd and waves of goodbyes fade.. when he kicks the pole subtly and lets out an "aww man". you can tell he's going to miss her a hell lot.
it's going to be hard for the both of them, I could see him almost on the verge of tears. nevertheless, I hope for this couple to stay strong no matter what happens, and that they will always be able to fall back onto each other when they meet difficulties an need some encouragement. not having someone to hug/lean on physically might seem like a pessimistic thought, but let's hope whatsapp will allow them to pull through.
