人日: CNY Day 7! ❞ ♡ Sunday, February 24, 2013

Ok hi it's after micro midterms!! Which went really badly 'cause I didn't know what I was doing more than half of the time. Was so stunned by the first question (there were only 2 questions) that I spent more than 10 mins just reading the question and attempting the 1st part of the question. And the duration of the midterm was only an hour.. Well I guess it would've been finish-able had we known what the preamble was talking about..

Felt like my studying kinduv went down the drain 'cause the things I studied pretty seriously for didn't even appear in the paper, like the income and substitution effect graphs. And his midterm format changed this year because he decided to do away with the MCQs. Don't know if I should be glad about it haha. Expected there to be about 3-4 questions so there'd be about 2 questions that would require the Lagrangian, and it turned out that in the two questions he set for today's paper, both required the use of Lagrangian. Alrighhhht.

Plusss the paper was only over 20 marks, yet its weightage is 30%, which corresponds to more than 1% per mark we get in this paper. GG. Let's hope the bell curve will do us some good.

Day 7 of CNY and it happened to fall on my birthday! :D

Focus isn't really good because of the brightness and all. Mummy's really cute 'cause she wrote the message in both chinese and english, haha. Singaporean indeed :p It was a thick angpow btw hehe, feeling lucky about that!

ootd for day 7! Went to my other aunt's house for reunion dinner later in the evening (:

Brought these over for the cousin 'cause she chipped hers after my other cous did the manicure for her over at my place. These two colours make a great combi tho, shall try it one day! :D

Over at my aunt's place's void deck lol.
Dad and bro! Bro's long-sleeved shirt folded up the army way, haha. Totally preparing to go to army already :p

Mummy and I! Ok I think this blue really suits my mum!

Fake flowers but boy they looked so beautiful when th sunlight shone upon them! (:

Yo you fishy. This doesn't look like a sucker fish (I don't know nuts about fishes haha) but all it does is to remain low on the ground and swim around only at that level.. Weirdy fish.

Final round of lohei for the year of the snake! :D
Loads of abalone and sashimi slices scattered all over. Mega yumz x3

What we had for dinner!
Also had to eat 七样菜 (directly translated to uh, seven kinds of vegetables) because it was 人日 (the day Man was created). Which is the day I was created. Awwww.

Aunt's signature dessert - creme caramel! She knew it was my cousin and my birthday (yup, we have the same birthday and we're exactly 10 years apart!), so she decided to make her special dessert other than just almond jelly! I sorta remember requesting for creme brulee but she said it'd be too difficult, HAHA.

This tasted really good anw! Brought all the remaining dessert home and my bro and I finished all of it at one go. It tasted yummy even after being refrigerated for so many days! (:

What's a birthday without a cake? The cousin who's supposed to be celebrating the birthday went to buy this cake so that everyone could have a piece of it after the celebration. Quite awkward 'cause she actually bought her own cake this way.. But it's alright haha.

I thought the chocolate truffle cake could have been been better though..

Three big candles on the left for the cousin; two big candles on the right for me.
I've hit the big 2! Omg how time flies.
I remember the previous time my birthday actually fell on the first day of CNY and there wasn't even a cake, lol.

(That's a blur figure of jiali in the background anw, haha)

The birthday babes! Photo from cuzzie's instagram!

Final photo after everyone sang the birthday song!

Blowing the candles~

Cutting the cake!

Ok so the inexperienced jiali ended up passing the knife to the eldest cousin so she could cut the cake for me. I did my part by offering the slices of cakes to the different relatives (had to do it according to the oldest to the youngest hahah, quite a chore uh).

Went back to doing homework, while the adults continued with their rounds of mahjong. Yeah I brought homework there to do, and so did my bro haha). Very apparent NJ & SMU spirit in us! While I was doing my work, bro went over to the mahjong corner pretty discretely, and I didn't think much about it 'cause I thought he was just taking a break from all his school work.

Y'guys will know what happened if you saw my fb, but watch out for it in the next post (:

Small gift from my eldest cous!

Pretty eh! I hardly tie up my hair though, maybe I'll make the effort to do so in order to use this pretty clip haha. So this was but one of the presents I've received from the relatives, but the rest were mainly in the form of angpows hehe. CNY + bday ftw! :D

Left my aunt's place near midnight. Wasn't really surprised that everyone went home so early, though they usually wouldn't leave before 12.. Speaking of which, I remembered daddy saying, while driving, that this was probably one of the earliest times we'd reach home after a cny visitation on a saturday night. Obviously didn't take much thought about what he said.

More about the rest of the night in the next post
