CNY Part 1! ❞ ♡ Tuesday, February 11, 2014

(1 February, Friday)

HELLO GUYSSSSS it's cny once again!!! Why do I still remember typing my cny blog posts for last year hahaha time flies doesn't it? The first day of cny- it's almost tradition that my SG relatives'll come over to my place for dinner, just 'cause my dad's the youngest and the only son in his family :p

Casual #ootd!

My elmo shirt's really cute, eh? Got graphic tees from malaysia at a REALLY good price, even my brother bought two for himself too. I've got another cookie monster one, but since it's cny, I decided to pick the red elmo one. All decked out in new clothes for the first day of cny! Notice how elmo's nose looks a lot like an orange haha

My bro and mum were quite free while my dad was preparing his dishes for the dinner, so they ended up cutting angpow and designing them into 春s. Bro cut the bigger one, while my mum did the smaller one. I must admit they're quite presentable, compared to mine...

Quite fail right. I hope the nice background compensated for the lack of artistic appeal in my 春 HAHA. You'll get to see a whole bunch of them on display in a while :D

Relatives arrived pretty early this year, so I got a shock when I heard knocks on the door after several failed attempts of ringing the bell (I could hear them pressing the door bell from behind the door but there was just no ringing sound 'cause the door bell's battery was dead. Or so we thought it was at that time). Glad that I took a (long 2.5 hour) nap before they came to visit heh heh

First lou hei of the horse year! Neighhhhh.
Lots of salmon but.. My mum forgot the abalone this year hahaha and I think no one realised. Or they did but they kept quiet about it LOLOL

Spicy midwings! Easy to prepare 'cause all we had to do was to air fry them :D

Ribssssss

Prawns and mussels before tom yam

After tom yam. It was too spicy hahaha, proof of it being an authentic product of chiangmai (dad got the packet from thailand when he was over there for his business trip)

Prawns before black pepper

Yay black pepper prawns this was yummy

Trotters. No one dared to eat the skin, albeit its abundance of collagen hahaha

SASHIMIIIIII. The most welcomed dish every year ^^

Smoked duck breast / black pepper duck breast / cucumbers

I WRAPPED A PLATEFUL OF THEM!!!! I hope my guests appreciated them before popping the whole thing into their mouths hahahaha

Yup and that was two tables, full of food
The sashimis weren't out when I took the photo!

Ok and post-dinner where we had lots of leftovers (which is supposed to be a good thing 'cause, y'know, 年年有余) and we packed them into boxes. They became our brunch the next morning LOL

Tea cookies baked by my cousin!!! Super nice omg, they were chocolate-, earl grey- and matcha-flavoured!!! She used some expensive matcha powder from meidi-ya and I think that's why it tasted so good. They melt in your mouth and I can assure that you can't stop at just one. Hahaha.

Yuh this was the display of 春s and fishes on the blue pearl granite top

Okay, and here's my house with cny decor, people. I swear I thought my mum transformed our house into chinatown when I reached home on tuesday night hahahaha. My house can look really pretty after all. Once in a year during cny, when everything's neat and the pretty lights are all turned on heh heh:

Couplets. We've been using them every year for like.. Every year since we shifted to this house HAHA. That's more than a decade, goodness. At least they still look good as new.

Yup more decor on the walls reflected by the mirror hahaha

Mummy did some rearrangements to the furniture in the living room (tv and sofas only actually), and now the living room seems longer than it was initially hahahah. Nevermind, it's always good for the house to looks spacious :D

The sight when you're entering at the door. Daddy told me to take this picture, looks nubbad right. Sorry I can't help but compliment my own house LOL

And yup here's me @ 2am after the entire night of 初一! I still look very much awake, don't I?
